The Port Authority Police Department (PAPD) has an open application period from March 16 – April 5, 2020.

Interested and eligible candidates may start their journey at PAPDrecruit.com. Additionally, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey will be hosting informational events, prior to the start of the application period, for candidates to learn about the PAPD application process from Port Authority Human Resources staff and PAPD officers.

TIME:     9:00 AM- 12:00 PM

Please note the following important details:

Salary:

  • The starting salary for a Police Officer is $42,970
  • After one year of service, the annual salary increases to $56,071
  • Salary step increases for up to ten years of service
  • Top pay annual salary after 10 years of service is $124,143

What we expect from you:

Education: To apply to take the written exam, a candidate must have a high school diploma or a GED.

If a candidate passes the written exam, he or she must meet one of the following requirements in order to continue in the evaluation process:

  • A minimum of 60 college credits from an accredited college or university or
  • An honorable discharge from the United States Military after serving a minimum of two full years of continuous active duty or
  • Be a spouse of a disabled or deceased veteran

 

Age: All candidates must be:

  • 20 years of age to apply to take the written exam.
  • 21 years of age and have not yet reached their 35th birthday at time of appointment to the Police Academy.
  • If you are a military veteran or a spouse of a disabled or deceased veteran who is 35 years of age or older at the time of appointment to the Police Academy, the Port Authority will allow veterans to deduct up to six years of military service from their age.

 

Citizenship: Candidates must be United States citizens at the time of appointment to the Police Academy.

Driver’s License: Candidates must have a current, valid driver’s license at time of appointment to the Police Academy.

Physical Fitness: Candidates must meet the medical and physical standards.

Application Fee: There is an initial $20 application fee to apply.
